PUBLIC SAFETY DIVER

Come Join Ken's Dive Locker Dive Team.

The KDL Dive Team is a group of volunteers who would be willing to assist Police, Fire Departments and other local group in the search and recovers of missing swimmers and divers in the local waters in and around the London and area..

Course Description:  Provides the public safety diver the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct a full range of related underwater activities.  Team members need to be certified by a Nationally recognized certification agency as an open water scuba diver and current medical release is a requirement for enrollment in this course and will be verified by the instructor at the first class.  Also all team members are required to have DAN Insurance. Required Text(s)/Materials:  Open Water Student Kit, NAUI Rescue Diver Student Kit.

Required Certification: Open Water Diver, Current CPR and First Aid

Specific Course Objectives:  Upon successful completion of this course, the student will possess the basic skills and knowledge to:

a.       Understand and employ dive team organization and administration.

b.       Understand the psychology of underwater stress, fear, and panic.

c.        Employ basic evaluation and first aid skills involved in a scuba diving accident.

d.       Have a basic understanding of dive equipment required for a police or public safety dive team.

e.       React to, evaluate, and avoid unreasonable danger in a hazardous materials diving situation.

f.         Coordinate cave diving and other penetration diving activities by qualified divers.

g.       Perform a scuba rescue safely.

h.       Participate in a search and recovery dive.

i.         Participate in an underwater investigation.

j.         Participate in a tactical night dive.
